MBY improvements to help Tom

There appears to be opportunities for forumites to become columnists in this erstwhile journal. For evidence see the TCM column and in next months mag. there is Will Sterlings article about F1 drivers and their boats which was basically researched and written fror him on here.

On an earlier thread I volunteered to give the Windermere perspective (still waiting for Tom to come back to me on this one - perhaps holding back as a ploy on price).

Therefore, on Tom's behalf (he is too busy fixing his chair), I am inviting forumites to suggest subjects for articles they could contribute to MBY.

To set the ball rolling:

Haydn - "Tips for Donkeys Afloat" - "On-board sanitary plumbing"

Byron - "How to deter boat buyers and keep SWMBO happy"

Coliholic - "Food and Drink"

Learner - "Boat Buying made easy"

Nick - "My Dinghy and Me"

Pauline - well don't know what to call it but we would probably have to have a sealed "18 and over" section for it.

Any others you can think of?

Now I know that TCM is the same as John Mathews I shall finish the article.
Whilst I don't agree with all TCM's posts, he clearly has a sense of humour (not sure what type).

Nice to be enlightened.

Personally I think MBY has come on leaps and bounds for my viewing but they have another 20,000 plus readers to please also.

There is a good mixture and the price tag on the boats reviewed seems to have dropped. It gets my vote and might even get my subscription.

I think Gutter journalism was a bit strong a title for what was an off beat article.

Don't pick on me - I wasn't the one having a go - I don't even think I've posted on that thread. Any more of this and I'll tell Kim :)

No I wasnt picking on any body just airing my views.

The main thing at the end of it is that it is a bit like the Soltron threads, some people like it some dont but at the end of the day people are reading it and talking about it so it has the same desired effect ie it has made an impact.

At the end of the day as long as Matt is serious about journalism and not doing it to conquor boredom then thats fine and I wish him all the best.

For me to suggest would make it biased and as I have no experience in journalism (other than my father was one) I leave that decision up to the experts.

If however, MBY would like to run an article on something I do have experience with then I will be happy to lend a hand or advise them of the people to see, as I did with MBM.

As I said the mag has come on quite a bit in recent months and I enjoy reading it.

It would be nice to see a larger test on the fuel additives that were MBM recommended go head to head with Soltron but done on a larger scale and to include proper bench tests for filtration and Combustion levels as this would complete the picture and really show who the Good the Bad and the Ugly really were.
