MBY Customer Service Award

Didn't vote cos I wasn't aware - anyone else?

We posted news stories on mby.com with links to it from our social media channels and started a forum thread with all the details included. I'm sorry you missed it but I'm not sure what else we could have done!

I agree Jimmy - makes no sense to me. If forums were to be included then many would have nominated this forum. While the Sealine forum does a great job in the relatively narrow field of Sealine, this forum has far more information for any boater

Of the firms/forums shortlisted, Boats.co.uk should win imho. The other nominees do a very fine job (I've worked with several of them) but the boats.co.uk longstanding commitment to outstanding customer service beats them all

To be fair the Sealine forum does offer a bit more than many. Although it is privately run membership is free and they have negotiated discounts for forum members with a number of marine related companies. They have also secured manuals for most models of Sealine, which are shared freely between members. Like this forum there is a good sense of kinship and help can easily be found when it is required.

I am a member of the forum and we own a Broom so maybe that tells you something.

I am guessing that the awards organisers felt that they fitted the category otherwise they wouldn't be on the short-list.

Ok, but I still don't agree. The Sealine forum is not a commercial organisation providing a service to paying customers. Just to be clear, I'm not criticising the Sealine forum at all - I just don't think you can reasonably compare an enthusiasts forum with commercial profit-drived sales organisations like (for example) EBY/BCU. Apples and pears.

Customer service is defined as the way that an organization deals with customers before, during, and after a sale.

A customer is defined as someone who buys something.

The Sealine forum is not an organisation providing a service to paying customers hence should be excluded.

IMHO of course :)

Since when was "Customer Service" soley profit driven?

We're talking about the Garmin Customer Service Award, right?

But, as always, there is one award that is decided by you, the boating public – the 2015 Garmin Customer Service Award. This award is given to the boating company that has gone above and beyond the call of duty to keep its customers happy.
It could be a boatyard that went the extra mile to look after your vessel, a supplier that delivered a crucial spare part to a remote location, and equipment manufacturer that honoured a long-expired warranty, or a broker that helped you sell your boat quickly and efficiently.

It's pretty clear, isn't it, that this award is aimed at companies that have customers. Not forums that have members. Otherwise, why not have a 'best boaty forum' award?

Clearly not as the Sealine Forum has been short listed :D

Well, clearly they changed the rules. Maybe the powers that be could explain.

If I had known I'd have proposed "vas" for his excellent service in keeping us customers on here enthralled with his rebuild thread. :)
