Just been watching the video of the Sealine SC35 for the coming mag (which needs music for a background so my ears stop bleeding) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is it just me or, particularly at the beginning, does it look like it's having a hard time building up speed?

It'll be interesting to read the write-up, and I'm not an expert on 30+ft boats so it might just be me, but that is the impression i get...

Any thoughts/explanations anyone?

I know it's not to everyone's taste but I must admit I quite like it. Visited at the boatshow and it felt more like a 40ft boat I guess because it is so beamy. SWMBO was also very taken with it. Lot of money for a 35ft boat though...

I also admit that I also like its exterior design
been a while for a Sealine but it does not look so much one of them, so if you like the brand it might not be up to you...
the last Sealine that I pretty liked was the 328 Soverign/Ambassador from the early 90s

I dont see any problems of her in planning, what I dont like in the video is that it does ride quite high which would make for a bit of bangin in the not so good weather conditions
if you have a look at the MBM vid of the Beneteau 37 Montecarlo it does ride pretty low and looks a very good seaboat indeed....

Remember the 37 Montecarlo rides on a cushion of air which is forced under the hull and therefore drops the nose (according to the salesman)

I agree that the SC35 looks 'nose high', bit like my Aquador! I think the hard top does not help in this respect by adding weight aft.

Sorry, I can't agree you with guys. If ever a boat fell out of the ugly tree, it has to be this one. I just cannot see anything nice about it. And it sounds awful aswell.

At sibs the sailsman was telling us about the new anti stain fabric that had three stains on that we could see /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Great taste in boats though poweryacht.
 
I think the external styling is ballsy but I like it. Then, i also like the Fjord 40 open so maybe that says something about me. I think the HT looks well proportioned and much better in white than in Chocolate brown /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The interior ius huge, but I didn;t think the saloon seating was all that comfortable - kind of looked like they had pushed everything to the edge to get it in. Also, for me there wasn't enough forward faing cockpit seating - definitley designed for a mooring rather than punching a sea.

Like the heads compartment though, you could really stay away for a few weeks on the boat in comfort. 3rd berth in the second cabin also a bonus for those with more than 2 kids or kids with friends.
 
Personally I hate the look of the thing, but it just looks too beamy/chunky - may give more room inside as haggerstoner says but it looks to em as if it is a definite disadvantage on the water, all i can see is clumsy...
 
I know the cushion design for the Beneteau
still if they invented something which gives better sea performance is credit to them
now they launched the Hardtop version Monte so it would be interesting how this will perform versus the Sealine

as for the Sealine what I saw from online pictures and I don't like is
1) saloon seating did not seem well put togather but this IMO will improve in the next models
2) cockpit seating and aft looks cheap as not all finished in GRP (reminds me of old Bayliners and Maxums)

BTW for those who saw the SC 35 for real does the bathing platform has space to hold a tender? is it spacious enough?
 
I like and have been on it.
A few things i didn't like,
1. Fabric in cockpit, doesn't matter what patter the salesman gave us, it won't last!
2. Could have done with a bigger bathing platfrom.
3. Price, it is flipen expensive, think I'd have the Absolute 39 instead, thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The headroom has been maintained right the way up to the front of the main cabin giving it a very square look.

It does seem that you can't see straight forwards when at speed, is that really safe?

I imagine that it looks better from the inside because from the outside it is the ugliest boat ever made. It looks far worse in the flesh having seen it at Southampton.
 
I saw the publicity drawings and thought myself that the SC35 had been hit several times with the ugly stick but, actually, in the flesh, it looks a lot better. Not handsome but striking. You certainly would stand out in a crowd of other boats. I particularly like the way they've painted the hard top a dark colour to disguise it's bulk and it looks a lot better than the SC29 in this respect
 
It's actually nearly 37' LOA than 35' which explains the space. IMHO it looks better in the GRP than photos and has real presence. I liked it, esp the coloured HT, though that was just a trial apprently and can't be ordered.

Makes the SC38 look very expensive, £50k more for less than an extra 2' length.

I was told at SIBS that exactly the same hull moulding will be used for a new flybridge model; didn't say when though. Should be an interesting looking boat....
 
Just come back from testing it in Cannes (with twin D4 300s), and it does take a while to get on the plane (around 12 seconds from a standing start) and rides bow up unless you trim it in and stick the tabs down a touch, which doesn't help top speed or fuel consumption. 0-32 knots (flat out) comes up in around 35 seconds.

Also had a play with a the Axius stern-drive system fitted to an SC29...seriously impressive piece of kit.
