Something to look forward to from the depths of winter.

I know some people are planning on Padstow but anyone interested in a get together in Watchet over the bank holiday weekend?

May 1st is on a Friday this year So it will be the weekend 1st 2nd 3d and 4th of May.See you over there.

graham the world is round you wont fall over the edge if you go any further than watchet /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Nempnett Thrubwell is my favourite place name.... I tried to find it once, turned out to be a farm yard and a very small church.

We may be up for that Graham - but I won't know Louise's work pattern until about a month before. We'll also be up for some short winter breaks as the days get longer.

I am now experienced at mooring a yacht with the pointy end on the pontoon. I did it twice at the weekend, and the pointy bit is still not blunt, so I reckon I got it right.

I am also experienced at going up the mast. I did it twice today. AND! I came back down again. Twice, as well.

Expert mariner, me, see?

Oh yes, I think I know why Graham likes Watchet - that dogfish he caught there. I reckon he'll be miles away by now, though.

Still early days yet but starting to look at the diary and reserve some boat time /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Couple of other boats from CBYC are thinking of Watchet for the Mayday.

It should only take you about 30 minutes to get there now with Ishtars souped up engine /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All sounds good......have heard a rumour that they night be lowering visitor prices for the coming berthing year.

One of the staff also mentioned that they are having a fashion show in conjunction with the Watchet Boat Owners Association on Thursday 5th Feb in The Esplanade Club.....in aid of the RNLI. Could be quite an amusing evening. And it's in a bar! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We'll be going down to Padstow if the weather is reasonable. Good bash last year, well worth the effort.
I did write to the folks at Watchet about their charging, not much chance of any change, but hopefully they could do something such as a second discounted night, one night in five free etc etc.
Nice place to go, just a bit steep to make it a regular destination.

Can't remember who it was I spoke to but they definately said that the tariff was being reviewed soon - marina owner was aware that they need to attract more visiting and long term boats, especially in current financial climates!

I was at Watchet last weekend and I thought the pricing of the marina was pretty reasonable: cheaper than any marina that I visited on the south coast last summer (but then again, I did end up paying £43 for 8 hours in a marina in Poole. Ouch! The toilet block didn't even work!). Lower prices are always welcome in the current economic climate!

Watchet was well worth visiting. The coastline both to the east and west of Watchet is very interesting. The evening in the Star Inn with the locals was very agreeable too.
