May Cruise to St Tropez

Under the castle anchored near the nice restaurant .
There was a bit of a party ( assume F1 related ) ashore ?

I've occasionally consided lashing my tender to the foredeck (I think TCM if this parish used to do the same with his Targa 48). Does it work ok?
 
It has now gone. It broke free on route to Port Grimaud from Agay. It was attached with some sort of sealant and it gave up. I never liked it on the bow and now just need to clean where it was. Life raft now in the aft locker.

Fabulous! Really good move because it looked at risk of taking the windscreen and your face out in a big sea. I was going to say.
I'm in antibes doing maintenance with 4+ forumites. Beautiful day isn't it?
 
Saint Tropez to Ile St Marguerite via St Raphael.

We left in stunning weather and had a great trip. Calm seas and light winds.

As we left at 12:00 we planned on stopping for lunch on board somewhere and chose St Raphael. As we approached St Raphael we tucked ourselves behind the le Lion du Mer and picked up a buoy.

A perfect stop for lunch.
We then headed to Ile St Marguerite

And tucked ourselves in near the restaurant La Guerite where a party was really going strong!

We settled in and then a surprise visitor!

Waited for sunset

And the lights to come on. What a great backdrop for an anchorage.

The answer is bound to see it depends, P. There are many ways to skin that cat, how well you secure the thing being the most important thing.
I used to place it there on my old Airon Marine, a 42kts max/35+ cruise boat, and it never moved one bit. But I used quite a few lines and belts.
Also, I always kept it reversed (hull upward), and with the bow forward.
It did obstruct the view during transition from D to P speed, but once on the plane the boat was rode pretty flat and the rib was not an issue.
All to be checked on your boat - but generally feasible, I would say. With a bit of care. :encouragement:

I've always avoided anchoring there because it seems a bit shallow and rocky and subject to swell from passing traffic. Any advice on how close you can get into the shore there and best positions to drop the hook?
 
Mike we are tucked in pretty close in 4 m. The wake from the passing boats isn’t great and a better way of doing this would be to stay between the islands and come around for lunch then pop back. With your stabiliser it will calm the wake down.

The La Lion du Mer is just off the southern entrance to St Raphael. No idea who owns the buoys or what they are rated to, but for lunch in calm conditions it was perfect. I will post a close up of the area on Navionics. The islands shelve very quickly so anchoring would be interesting.

We have just had lunch at La Guerite and it is now M’s number one restaurant by boat on the Côte d’Azur! She spent more in the boutiques here than in St Tropez!
 
The last leg!
Before we headed back we had lunch at La Guerite on Ile St Marguerite. A great place and we can’t recommended highly enough. It’s now our new number one restaurant on the Coté d’Azur for boating adventures.

Making sure I get my five a day

Before we headed back I had a swim and found this around one of my drives. I think I know when I collected it as the was one tiny change in engine note during the leg to the Islands from St Raphael, but nothing in performance. Reasonably clean breaks at both ends and not bound to the drive in any way. Makes me feel like I have joined the motor boat ranks fully!

And M reflecting on our week away and the lunch we had just had. I think she wants to return pretty soon!

In all a brilliant week away from our home port. We learnt a lot and genuinely felt a huge transformation in our boat with the change from sail to power. We did more than we would ever would in our sail boat and in complete comfort.
I can post the dull technical stuff if anyone is interested in fuel burns etc.
