May Cruise to St Tropez

Correct, North basin (Mole Nord) has fuel it's at the end of our quay. Fuel is usually a decent price. Walk towards the middle of the marina for the shops. Small supermarket is good, inc hot chicken etc to take away. Boulangerie is good too. Plenty of restaurants - happy to recommend one if you want to stop for lunch. Small chandlery plus a much bigger one at the end of the South basin.

Then it was off to Port Grimaud. The weather turned!



F4 on the nose and a nasty 1m chop.



Mrs A was not happy.

Still we arrived and the sun came out again. We won’t talk about the two botched mooring attempts!



Safe and sound in Port Grimaud. St Tropez tomorrow. My poor wallet!!
 
Good going - yup it blows straight down the bay .
There’s little ferry’s to STrop from PG , so this means you can stay another night and the beach infront of the hotel is nice ,take a walk E .
How ever here’s the best place to anchor to visit STrop .- red dot it’s sheltered from the bay wind .
There’s a jetty for tender and a beach ( there will be others ) and a lad with a rib for another fab beach restaurant- no tourist here locals only .
Towns 500 M by the side of the cemetery.

On your image I have marked a few things the Anchorage ^^^ . 1
Pampelone - arrow is direction of most expensive, 2
The bottom corner establishment s are cheap and it’s sheltered .
The peninsular 3 is cap lardier ( sp ) - nice shelter to overnight - move to what ever side - but the W is naturist .
Then to refuel / re water go to Cavaliere ( green dot bottom of image ) past Cap Camarat — it’s really nice French only and great marina - they help you moor - lad / rib etc —. There’s buoys too out side.But inside is best .

Yup thats Baie de Canebiers. We've anchored in there overnight on a couple of occasions. Its a good secure anchorage. We took our tender around into the harbour for dinner once and had a very hairy ride back to the boat in the dark because the wind had piped up. Another possible anchorage for St Tropez is to tuck close into the shore just west of the harbour
 
Porto's post 2 above and his last pic of turquoise water- I would second that suggestion. Reallly nice spot. Headland is called Point de Douaniers. About 3 miles W of cap camaret.
I'm down this Friday for 9 days (apart from one day nipping back to london). Mostly in the ship yard doing usual preseason work, not anchored in turquoise!

Caution with that Baie des Canebiers, the seabed is globally muddy and doesn't hold under windy conditions (and boy can the wind blow suddenly here). We spent an horrible night dragging like mad. Weather permitting, it's definitely a fine anchorage once the youngsters and their blaring stereos depart back to St Tropez.

The owner at the beach restaurant in Agay is best friends with the captainiere. So you could ring for a bookinging, explain you need a buoy and let him sort it out. The captainiere also runs to boat to shore shuttles so it is in their ineterest to work with the restaurants. We used our own tender as it happened as it was easier. In other good news they serve tiramisu!

Now in St T having had a wee post lunch nap after a great lunch at Le Girelier. M has been very good in the shops and it has been me who has spend more on myself!

Not a great fan of Bruce anchors myself but like you I do have a large Rocna on my boat which I have a lot of confidence in
 
Yesterday was the short dash to St Tropez

What a great view for the arrival

And the weather was much better. Happy faces all around.

There is a small sailing festival going on which has been fun to see.

We had a great stay with excellent food and my wallet is reasonably intact!
A 100% success.

Gonna focus on checking safety stuff making sure it tally s with Fr “ rules “ later and tomorrow . Then disappear to Porquerolles- Bouba territory :)

Thx for the Itama pic , there used to be a whole line of them - once upon a time - pre 2008 crash .
Got some new fender socks on today .
