YM tested it a couple of issues ago. Try and get hold of a copy. I went on it at SBS for a tour, and though I'm a Maxi fan(see my profile), I wasn't as impressed as YM. SD Marine, the UK agent are good and always helpful, efficient and professional. All the Maxi range, though marketed as cruisers, are performance orientated. Nearest rivals are things like X Boats, Finngulf and Grand Soleil.

One of those brands that people ignore on their way to the 'mainstream' products (no names).

I (naturally) was impressed with the Etap 46S. However when Roger Moon showed me around a Maxi 1300 the Etap slipped into second place!

If you do buy one I have one thing to say. lucky bu99er!

Look v seriously at an 1100 three years ago but walked away after seeing one being prepared for hand-over having been sailed to the Solent. The innards were all out and it was easy to see some of the factory short cuts. I'm sure all boats have these but I was not happy having seen some. pm me if you want any details (such as I can remember)

Yachting World is doing a feature on the Maxi 1300 this month comparing it against a Dehler 44 and a Grand Soleil 43. A lot of money for 43 feet with 40 hp engine - £244K ex VAT but comes with a reasonable inventory. Teak decks, heating, plotter, down wind and storm canvas and autopilot are all extras.
