With Covid curtailing my travels, i'm taking the opportunity to get my masts out so I can repaint and service them, one job being replacing the masthead sheaves.

But being an Australian boat and not knowing the UK market, despite googling I can’t seem to find anyone to supply them. I can get them out of Australia but it’s taking for ever for things to get here.

Why is life so hard? This should be simple. They are black Delrin with Bearing Bronze bushes, roughly 75mm od, 15mm wide.

Can anyone suggest someone who can supply them, be it off the shelf or custom?

Thanks

Peter

And another what is wrong with them.

From the photo they look pretty standard, measure the diameters and width and the diameter of the spindle. Then talk to a Selden mast stockist and you could find a replacement. The critical dimensions are the spindle dia and width and also the max and min dia that you mast housing will accommodate.

Thanks for your responses, I have now found someone who can do the biz for me.

With respect to why I am replacing them, mea culpa, I did photograph the two OKish ones, though if you look closely you can see one has started flaking, and was abrading the halyard. The others were in a sorrier state.

Main reason though is Preventative Maintenance.

Once I can start travelling again, I’m guessing on 7 years to get back to Australia.

Would the old ones last the course?

Possibly. Probably. But while my masts are out, replacing worn bits with good is a lot easier than trying to do it hanging from a bosun’s chair.
