Hi,

The mast track seems like an obvious means of fitting various items.
For example a phone or iPad mount. Are there any brackets designed to fix solid in the track?
See attached image for example.

The mast track normally has an entry point with a 'gate' but this is above deck for the sails etc. Anything put on without a gate is likely using a simple bolt small enough to slide in at an angle and then big enough to clamp down when in normal operation. Alternatively you can simply grind it flat on either side and then insert and twist. A cam can be used to tension.

Thanks for the info. I'll have a look into that.

I use a bit of shock cord to hold fairly light things, but have also U shaped some timber to go round 3 sides of the mast, with another bit on the back with 2 wing nuts to clamp it on. I've used it for a small table, but the theory can be used for anything, including a tablet clamp, and put it at any height.

Depending on the foot, it might be possible to slide a bolt/machine screw up from the base and use that to hold some sort of timber bracket.

Not too difficult to cut out a mast gate type entry towards the bottom of the mast by drilling 2*10mm holes about 50mm apart into the track and then cutting the sides between them with a Dremel. You can then insert plates with screw in them. I have just done similar when fitting a Tides Marine sailtrack which is held in place with such a plate and screws.

I recently read a post you made referring to a few places where it is possible to dry out I Poole harbour. Could you please tell me where these spots are as I'm trying to do just that with my 1.6 m draft .com keep this weekend.
Many thanks
