Hoping to glean some wisdom.... I have left my trailer sailer in a yard, a long long way from my house. Mast stored horizontally on push pit and pulpit rails. Sadly a bit of clearance between hatch garage and line of mast. Do Ineed to worry about leaving my alloy mast stored thus for months on end?.

As far as I know, you’ll be fine as long as ‘a long way’ isn’t on Venus. Alloy creeps at high temperatures, 250 odd degrees C, but not at temperatures humans can stand.

I store mine in the same way for 5 months every year. (now about 25years this mast) Yes there is a noticeable droop in the middle of the mast. If you are worried then a bit of packing under the middle to make it straight, but I would not worry. ol'will

Many of us have this situation ..... it is true that a mast will 'droop' slightly in the middle, but once stepped and setup - should be ok.

If a 'prop' can be placed under the mid section - then it can do no harm.

I have a heavy mast for my 'small' boat but so far do not prop mid section ashore ....
