I bought mine direct from MastMate in the USA - no problems at all. If you are getting one I would recommend getting the work/safety belt as it is really good.
It comes without the mast track sliders as obviously mast tracks differ. I bought sliders from my local sail loft.
the mast mate is a good product if the reason for going up the mast is not that the mainsail sliders got the main stuck high up in the mast track.. when that happened on my neighbor's boat his mast mate was useless and we had to haul him up in a bosn chair using the spare spinnaker halyd. then he could pound away to free the jammed mainsl slider.... the mast mate would cost me about $500 US, instead i carry a bosn chair, 160 ft of dedicated mountain climbing line, a 4 part block and tackle from an old mainsheet, etriers(foot ladders) and 2 jumar ascenders for 1/3 the price..
I have seen a Hurst Get-up ladder used without its sliders in the track.
Some one needed to change a masthead lamp and borrowed the ladder from another boat but the slides wouldn't fit the track, so it was just hauled up on a halyard and a young lad climbed up it and did the job. However, this was done inside Bembridge harbour with hardly any wind. I wouldn't like to try it at sea.
I have inmast furling, so had my Hurst ladder made with a luff rope instead of sliders, so it could be hoisted in the spare groove on the mast. Much less likely to jam too.
