I'm due to get my keel stepped mast restepped in the next two weeks so thought I would renew the leaky mast boot.

Now I've spent hours searching the internet trying to buy a mast boot, but am unable to find one anywhere in the UK! All the online chandleries seem to sell is the boot tape.

I'm read about DIY-ing it with truck inner tubes and the like, but I just want a normal mast boot. Also not interested in the Spartite product.

Am I using the wrong search term, or does anybody know where I can buy one?

I've tried searching for mast boot, mast gaiter, mast collar to no avail.

If you do end up making your own you may be interested in my experience with the boot between my rudder stock and the grp upstand where the bottom bearing is held.
i had to have a new rudder and the old boot was worn so the installers made a new boot from some material obtained from a bouncy castle repair kit complete with adhesive. This has to taper from 65 mm to 200 mm in about 350 mm.it takes constant rotation from the movement of the rudder stock. The other end being fixed. It is still perfect after several years. Mine is below decks so not affected by uv but one assumes bouncy castles do not degrade that quickly

There's an easy option which comes complete with stainless steel pipe clips. All manner of sizes available.

Mine are the 210mm to 160mm size, which fits 185mm - 210mm to 160mm - 180mm Pipes. Dead easy to fit (as long as the mast isn't in the boat yet!), and not a drop of leakage.

I'm thinking of making a couple of fabric overboots to keep the sun off, but haven't quite got around to it.

I bought one, years ago, from Sailspar. Made to dimensions I provided and not too expensive. When it arrived it was sheet neoprene, glued and stitched. Worked OK, but not too hard to make oneself. Don't know If Sailspar still supply
My present one, on a different boat, is Avon-type hypalon (I think), again glued and stitched. Not sure, but I think it was made by Rig-Magic of Suffolk Yacht Harbour. Try them.
Just searched, seems R-M no longer trade.
