Massed floating weed on the Orwell

There is massed floating weed on the Orwell and a lot of reports of blocked water strainers and overheating engines so beware.

I can't speak for the rafts being discussed but there have been many occasions when I have found myself forced to motor through similar-looking weed patches and invariably got through without a problem, even for the log impeller. It might be that the saildrive I have had for the last 25 years is deep enough to avoid the worst of it, but the Orwell monsters may be particularly bad. I did once pick up weed in the engine inlet, in Salcombe, and worse still into the heads once in Ireland, but generally I have been lucky.
