Mary Rose Museum - visiting by yacht

Only a 15min drive, anyway got to spend an evening with another forumite so what could be better. :)

Ladies and Gents

Just a follow up to say thanks for all the really useful advice. We have just got back from 3 nights at Haslar (Pier D) which was very sheltered despite 30 knots blowing through for 2 days. The staff and facilities were excellent, wash Block G has just been refurbished. The Light Bouy was not yet open but they were busy vitaling so not long, the office has now moved into the old cafe and i think a new cafe is opening in the old office but looks some way off?

The kids absolutely loved the Historic Dockyard and the Explosion Museum. HMS Warrior and Victory survived but we didn't have time for the MR or the Submarine so we will definitely back with our annual passes. Shame we couldnt make the Great Wall and or New Bengal but will definitely go next time. Finally I manged to squeeze in the best barber experience ever and would thoroughly recommend The Legend in Gosport High Street a truely wonderful surprise!

Thanks again for all the really helpful advice.

Forumites, a year has passed and we are going back next week (probably just in time to find out the annual passes we bought for the maritime museum have expired).

Anything changed in the last year? Any new recommendations ? Anything to avoid?

Also any long term parking (cheap) options around Gosport / Portsmouth? Dont mind a walk or cycle but would prefer not to have a smashed window!

Thanks

used to be a car park on Queens Street cant say how expensive it might be though ... last time I parked in Portsmouth (last week) was at the Isle of Wight ferry terminal was £12 for 24 hour period.

If you are at Haslar you might find a new block on G pontoon plus the Cafe onshore aka the creek as in up the creek is open .(or it was just before Xmas) however whether it is worth a visit depends on expectations and time you have to dine. Don’t know if lightship Mary mouse is back open or if it will have space for a booking.
