So Patrick Moore reckons there's a 50% chance of life on Mars, the Beagle hasn't been heard of, and Spirit stopped working on Wednesday. They've just landed Opportunity on Mars - what's the betting this goes into silenzio also?

It has to be the little green monsters who are doing this - chopping off the antennas and wheel-clamping them, or else giving them as toys to their kids. "Johnny don't fight over it, you can have the next one". Either that or they've been run over by Elvis's lorry.

Re: This will make it boaty!

It just goes to show that they should have fitted the robots with EPIRB's. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well just imagine what would happen if the Martians dropped a probe in our back streets? Local yobs would have had it apart for the spares in 30 seconds flat! Strikes me the Martian laddoes are just a bit slower off the mark, thats all.

I have it on good authority that the martian exploration vehicles have been impounded on the direct orders of Rialb Ynot the supreme leader of the Martian government, whilst all possible inport tax revenues are calculated.
The 25000mph aproach speed was detected & recorded by a low orbit interstella speed camara (Fines to follow).
Rialb Ynot is at present clamping down on all non martian immigration in a vain attempt to distract the voters from his failure to find WMD's (Weapons of Martian Destruction) after invading a neighbouring asteroid whilst The translation of the name 'BEAGLE' has led to the introduction of dog licencing on Mars for the first time in it's history.

Bugger buggering about with beagles. Next time we'll send one of Princess Anne's pit bulls. That'll show that jumped little octoped Ynot who is boss planet around this neck of the supernova.

They are also under investigation for failing to be correctly CM marked, and failure to comply with category A of the recreational spacecraft directive required for interplanetary space travel,

Apparently the exploration vehicles were not the first to arrive on the red planet as recently received photographic evidence shows.

I have it on good authority that the reasons why we haven't heard anything from Beagle is that it fell foul of 5 Gov departments and they have put a total ban on un-authorised transmissions, namely MCA, for not filing correct Passage Plan, HM C&E because the VAT was not correctly accounted for (fines pending), RCA (now Ofcom) no radio licence could be found, and the IR because, well just because if everyone else is going to get on the band wagon why shouldn't they charge something too?

they have in fact all landed in the area of mars known as Tock-steth.
Unfortunately life pops out each time anmd offers to 'look after yer lander forra bluey mister?'

when no rate is forthcoming the whole thing is stripped down and resold.

Thankfully, no BrettH: escaped from the wrong end of the West Midlands quite a few years ago. Happy memories of spending 5 minutes in a shop and finding 3 (large) yobs setting about my motorbike with their toolkit...!, And in one afternoon: car stolen, found, stolen again before recovered, found again, stolen yet again and found next day stripped to the bare chassis. Also having sophisticated and expensive alarm system stolen out of the next one. But that proved eventually to be an inside job by the people who fitted it.

So Beagles not got a chance.......

Dont think so Sailbad. If as I suspect it landed in the Han Dsw Orth area of the West Marslands, it will have been stripped and torched within minutes of arrival.

I recognise it from Jools' picture
