Marriage saver bluetooth headset alternatives?

So one could have the phone in your pocket and a simple earpiece with mike into you ear.

hmm so she's catching warps, bending down to tie off to cleats with a mobile in her pocket & earpiece in her ear ......

What are the odds of something expensive going splash right in the middle of berthing on a short wobbly finger pontoon with an offshore breeze ....... :)

Not sure Mrs G would agree to wearing industrial ear defenders!

The ones I got are nice fashionable red ones

I was hoping for a more discrete arrangement.

Having bought the version with headphones for the inside of a helmet I have had to buy the monaural version separately. They are on their way.
I have designed a clip to hold the bluetooth transceiver on a trouser belt loop. Now printed out on my 3D printer. Happy to print for anyone else who goes down the same route

That could work but any ambient noise would disturb communications this is one of the reasons I went the full ear coverage route. I did have a VOX set on a PRS radio but did not work very well due to the simplex comms and the open ear piece.

The kit I bought is full Duplex. I will feed back when I use the kit for real!

Please do, I've been thinking of doing this for a while..... having someone else do the prototyping and field testing might be just the prompt I need to actually get round to it !!

Now bought 2 sets of V6-1200 Catuo sets from amazon. £35 each. Designed to go inside a motorcycle helmet. They do not work well with earphones + mic from a mobile phone. However the sound quality with the supplied head phone and mic is superb.
So now making a band to hold the speakers and mic and a separate gizmo for the transceiver.
Hopefully will have a good system for £70.

Is this the one

If so it's identical to the one I got

Yes there seem to be lots of makes. There are various versions and the V6-1200 is full Duplex.

I bought a 4 pole jack plug extension cable to see if I could use the supplied earphones with the transceiver on my belt, but with the extension cable the system did not work. Likewise I tried a mobile phone earphone with mic lead and that does not work either.

I found you can either buy the widget with a monaural earphone - but they only had one in stock. Finally I found that another vendor sells the earpiece separately. I have now order a couple and am waiting for them to arrive possibly from China. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M7SM1T5/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1

That headset look interesting. let me know how you get on wit it when it arrives.

Suggest you have a look at Eartec Ultralite from Seadog Boating Solutions. These look neat and do not involve cables which I am sure would be a nuisance on a boat. If not I have for sale a genuine pair of Marriage Savers from the US in return for a donation to the RNLI

Nice but at $150 each compared with $78.48 for 2 sets plus a little work had little chance.

Headsets have arrived and work perfectly with the V6-1200 transceiver - well at least within the house!

I have designed and printed a holder for the transceiver. I am now waiting for the black filament to arrive so I can print a more discrete holder. Note little carabiner for clipping onto belt loop.

Happy so far. On board in couple of weeks to test for real

Will feed back later

Good idea using a Motorcycle Interphone actually.
Where did you get this from, as most of them come with flat helmet speakers/mic and not the over the ear version like you have?

Amazon UK will no deliver to my location so I had a look on E-Bay for suppliers in China and found this set

Same base set with simular headset to the one you have I think.

This headset looks very similar to the one you have
