Marooned

Ahh, Holyhead, or Greysland as we call it in our family. Even on a sunny day it can only manage 40 shades of grey. Rain, especially drizzle is it's forte. It's a long (and pointless) uphill walk into the town. I hope you have lockers full of booze & fags & interesting reading matter.

Take up fishing, H, it's a popular pastime amongst moboists (as I am finding out on another thread :D)

Fresh fish is good for healthy eating anyway.

Should have booked on an MBM cruise instead.

Bet they have sunshine the whole way!!!!!! ;)

Hope things brighten up for you :)

Extraordinary. A few miles away it is lovely in Port Dinorwic. Mostly sunny, dry, warm in the afternoon and light breeze.

Oh it's sunny enough, just a freezing cold wind. We had to moor the boat three times, to find a spot where it did not lay 3ft from the pontoon, even with a cats cradle of ropes.

The marina's half empty and it looks like a new extention has been abandoned. Hardely unexpected as Holyhead is a miserable place and always windy.

Mick has just phoned me to say that he has not heard from Tom and he has not replied to my text.

He is going to make some enquiries.

EDIT:

He's alive and currently eating a chinese on board Little Ship in Dublin.

Thanks Mick for getting back to me.

Mick says hi to all the N Wales crew and a special hi to Kawasaki as he probably owes Mick some money.

How come a raggie can get out but you're marooned? I reckon you're becoming attached to the place.

The raggie was only playing in the harbour and well protected.

M Farter is quite capable of going out. It's just, erm, erm. Me and her just are not any more. Just to cold and windy.

Could drive down stairs I suppose, but theres no fun in that. Anyway the sea would be mostly behind us and MF aint bothered at all with that. WE came to Holyhead, without stopping, which was a bit boreing really. South Stacks hardly lived up to it's name, it just swished about a bit.

The hope was for a gentle cruise back, but with the N Westerlies there looks little chance of stopping. Maybe Almwich or Mole Free will be OK. Dunno till we poke our nose out.

Theres been loads of green water over MF's fly bridge, it's quite fun really, but you get awfull wet.:D:(

Turning Northerly tomorra then back to Westerlies for the rest of the week. Looks like you might be sneaking back the way you came unless you stay another day or two. How about a stop at Rhos Colyn, Silver Sands Bay or Pilots Cove on the way.

Thanks for that. I'm not to good at looking at forcasts, mainly just bash through it. Yep, could go back tuther way.

Was looking for the little place we stopped once, small enterance, horse shoe bay. Life boat station to the left and a couple of rocks in the middle. Cant find it now and Kwakers was no help.

Either way, MF will be fine with the sea behind. Recon the brick works might be a place to stop.

Sounds like you might be thinking of Rhos Colyn, between Rhosneiger and South Stack. But it might be somewhere we don't know about.
When yer gets back I'll teach yer how to suck eggs ;)

Tom who?:D

Out of sight, out of mind.

Anyway, it's Haydn's thread - he started it.

Haydn, I would stay well clear of the N coast in Northerlies, what with the Skerries, Old harry rocks, East, Middle & West Mices et al and the only two places for shelter are Holyhead & Amlwch.

Should be nice if it goes westerly, you can take yer pick of the Brickworks (porth Wen), Camaes or where ever. Mole Free & Red Dwarf will be fine too, but Red Dwarf does dry out of course.
