Just bought secondhand gearbox housing for mariner 90hp outboard. Anyone got any tips on how to take out old gearbox and put in new housing.

Easy by housing do you mean the lower leg, anyway goes something like this, disconnect the battery, above the prop holding on the lower leg you will find about 6 or 8 bolts, sometimes theres a hidden one under a plastic cover,, you need to take these out hopefully they will not be sized, but before you take them all out you will need to find out how your gear linkage shaft is fitted, on the last mariner I took the lower leg off a 50 hp I think, I just undid the 8 bolts and it dropped off the gear selector which connected down below, just done a suzuki 65 had to disconnect it just bellow the carbs, before you put the new leg on check the water pump, its in the lower leg simple impeller just as well to change it.

Nick in cheshire.
