Hi Guys,
This is my first post, but i can't tell you how many times this forum has been helpful to me throughout the boat buying/learning/heartbreaking process! so a belated thanks!
I was wondering if you might have any advice; I recently bought a second hand mariner 4hp outboard which had recently been serviced (Had receipt)
We mounted it and put fuel in and it came to life on second pull, all looked well.
I left it on choke for a while and then took it for a test drive, as i turned the choke down it seemed to lose power and threaten to cut out, so i left choke about half on until we had been under way for around 20 minutes when the engine cut out anyway. we dropped anchor and i couldnt see anything visually wrong, leaks etc. and around half an hour later we pulled the start chord and it came to life again, taking us back to where we set off again without any problems.
After this it hasn't started again.
Any suggestions on where to begin with the diagnosis; I'm a bit strapped for cash, so would prefer to do the repairs myself!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Chris
