I have a shetland family 4 with a mariner 40HP on it, I dropped the throttle lever into the water can anyone tell me where to get a replacement, thanks

Using the full serial number ( beginning 6E9 ) you should be able to locate the parts list for your engine ( actually I think they are all the same for all 6E9 models) and identify the part you need.

and then locate your nearest dealer at | Mercury Marine
you may be able to order the part

BUT if I have correctly identified the part it is no longer available

There are a few people on ebay selling used spares from these engines, I would contact them and ask if they have what you need.
Also local outboard shops?
 
Thanks everyone for the great advice, I went to a local outboard shop and got the part but you have to buy the whole kit at a cost of £120
