Just to continue the Mariner 2hp issue a bit further, I have one of which is about 10 years old - but, as usual, the paint is bubbling up on small areas of the gearbox due to to corrosion. I would like to repaint it with the proper stuff to match the existing job can anyone give me the name / address of a supplier of aerosols of the correct (old) Mariner silver grey AND the appropriate primer for the alloy castings? Thanks and if anyone has any other interesting facts or information on this most useful and reliable of motors - perhaps that would be worth posting too?

Outboard paint is available from most outboard spares stockists, but at a price that will make you wince. I used to try to match with as near as possible paint from halfords car stuff but decided some years ago -why bother make it look new and it increases the likelihood of some scumbag nicking it. make it look maintained but individual will reduce the risk, be a lot cheaper, and last just as long!
