how many times should you pump the toilet to flush it, should you pump enough water to send fresh water`(not soiled)all the way through i.e. fill the 50mm pipe with new water? I have worked out about 15 pumps!

This sounds like a personal preference of how much you want the boat to smell!
I pump my Lavac frequently and give it shots of washing up liquid, and
not just after I've used it either!!

Your figure sounds about right. If you assume the pump bore to be about the same as the outlet pipe bore then it's simply a case of dividing one by the other, plus the number of strokes to empty the bowl, plus a couple for luck!

This is why heads are smelly in a lot of boats. WIth a three or four foot anti-syphon loop most people probably aren't pumping enough - i.e. most boats are sailing around with a four foot tube full of ****.

We don't have an anti-syphon loop - our outlet pipe is one inch long and the heads never smells.

Exactly! A 'death if you don't' rule on our boat!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
