Does anyone have the Marine Traffic AIS subscription version called ‘Professional’ ?
My question is this.
On the free version you can search the map in real time for an area and see AIS vessels and click on them to see their details as well as their track showing time and speed etc anywhere along their recorded track route line over past 24 hours.
On the paid ‘Professional’ subscription version are you able to go back in time and view an area, a harbour for example, and see which vessels were in that area at a particular date/time and click on a vessel to show that same information?

Hello, I have a free "Enterprise" subscription as I run a shore-station for MarineTraffic.

The answer is, yes, you can go back in time for an area, and replay all traffic movement in a timeline. As an example I can view the whole solent area, all the way back to 2019, and you can view up to 5 days' worth of movements in one timeline.

However, in this playback mode, you cannot click on targets to view more information. You can, however, overlay vessel names and their MMSI numbers "live" on the targets as you scroll through the replay, which makes it quite trivial to then lookup whichever vessel you are interested in using the regular search feature of MarineTraffic.

Example attached.

I have no use for such info as you are looking for - so cannot answer ... I just provided the contents listing to try and help ..

It may sound strange - but at my desk - I normally use Free version .. but my offices around the world - most have Pro or Enterprise .. but they rarely use the extras ...

I forgot you'd asked about "professional" subscription - the answer is exactly the same as above, but you could only go back up to 30 days, not 5 years.

Thank you for your prompt and very clear answer. My situation is this. My boat was hit by a non uk vessel while unattended overnight alongside a harbour pontoon. The harbour in question has found cctv of the accident/incident with presumably correct date and time. They have confirmed the nationality of the vessel but have not as yet provided me with the vessels name or whether the name is visible in the footage. I am still awaiting this information from them as well as exact time of incident. When, and if, this information is made available to me I was hoping (assuming the vessel was fitted with AIS and switched on) that I may be able to identify the vessel and perhaps be able to make contact with them. There was damage to my boat which requires professional grp and gelcoat repair which will be costly. Although I have fully comprehensive insurance to cover this I am still lgoing to have to pay the insurance excess costs out of my pocket. It would be good if I were able to furnish my insurance company with their insurance details.
All this is hoping that they had AIS but I won’t know unless I try. ☹️

Thank you Refueler, often suffered minor dinks and scratches which I just put up with and deal with myself. Unfortunately this damage is beyond my capabilities ☹️

Sympathy ...

Yesterday - I took wife for check up to hospital. I'm sitting in my car in car park .. fitting a new Dash Cam ... fitted and switched off.

About 1 minute later new Volvo XC60 pulls into the large space opposite me. But pulls in too sharp and is across the space. I should have switched dashcam on but forgot ... I now watch driver reverse a little ... fwd a little .. keeps repeating instead of coming all way out and straightening .. Finally XC60 is so close to the Audi on its left - you could not squeeze through ..
Driver than turns steering and tries to reverse more - wheel stoves in Audi door ... Audi actually rocked when it happened.
Driver straightens wheel and backs out and turns to leave ...

No way matey ... I beep horn to let them know I've seen it .. get out of car and approach driver ... youngish woman ...

Excuse me - do you understand what you just did ?

I did nothing ...

Lady - I can see from here what you've just done .. would you like to see ... she gets out calling me all the worst Latvian names she can ...

I never did that ....

She's becoming hysterical ... I'm losing my cool with this .. she's stove in the door of another car and thinks she can just drive off to another space ..

She's ranting about foreign people etc ... so I just tell her - Call the Police then ...

Just to explain - over here Police need to authorise repairs etc .. they also assess and apportion blame. We are not allowed to move vehicles until Police have photo'd / measured / assessed etc. Which she has already contravened at least that. That makes it a serious offence.... leaving scene of accident can be loss of licence as well as big fines ... if injuries etc - can be custodial !!

I hear her on the phone - she's crying and ranting .. obviously not talking to Police .. so I call them. While waiting - her Father turns up ... and looks at damage ... then bluntly says "Why are yo an idiot ? Why don't you just walk away and ignore?"

That just made me more sure of my actions. Police came - I described what happened. Then stepped back .. My wife was back at car by then. I can see and hear woman ranting .. Police maesuring height of damage compared to her front wheel - matches of course. At this point I pointed out to Police that the damages was completely clean - no road dust as was around it .. meaning it had to have been done only shortly before. Rest of car had typical road grime.

I made mistake of speaking to Father asking him if he could calm his daughter down - she was near bursting b lood vessels ! I said to him .. all she had to do was leave a note on the other car .. maybe it would cost 100euros to pop the dent out - I even asked him - what if it was YOUR car dented >> ... but now it in Police hands .. they can see from angle of car now that she was trying to leave scene ... WOW ... Father and daughter now are so ballistic - Police asked me to leave while they completed ...

If it had been just a tap .. I would have not bothered - but I am talking a huge dent and poor owner was still not at his car by time I left ... I can only assume that Police will contact them.

There are some nasty people about. Also.... just received the video stills of the boat colliding with mine. It was not a foreign boat but a British one. He wasn’t leaving the harbour, he was entering and stayed all night leaving following morning. He had every opportunity to report the incident to the Harbour staff but didn’t bother. I will find him

Todays society ... we mustn't upset anyone ..... but sorry - in your place - Yes - I'd be looking to contact him ....

I wish you the very best ..

It may sound strange - but that car park incident has really upset me.

Many years ago when I was still Officer on ships ... I was flying out from Heathrow. My wife then - used to go to airport with me and drive the car back ... etc.

We'd just parked at Term 3 ... and were about to get out of car for my bags ... BMW comes in smack into back of a Cortina. Rear lights smashed, surrounding metal distorted ... woman gets out .. looks .. gets back into car and drives away ..
We noted registration number ... wrote it on slip of paper .. put our telephone number saying we saw the incident and happy to help. Put the paper under the wiper of the car.

I went off ..... while later when talking to Wife on phone ashore - she told me that Cortina Insurance contacted her .. she passed what happened .. they said thank you ...
Next Port when I called Wife - she told me Cortina owner had sent a big bunch of flowers and a thank you note ..

Thank you. I will contact the harbour again this afternoon and hopefully get an exact time and date from cctv and then pm you with as much information as I can 👍

Sailorbenji, I did send you a pm earlier this evening with photos attached , not sure if you received it. I’m fairly new on here and perhaps didn’t send it properly. Many thanks though but it likely that the vessel wasn’t fitted with AIS after all as it wasn’t the non uk vessel we thought it was initially. 👍
