I am changing boats and want to take my DSC Radio with me. Obviously I need to change the MMSI number. Can anyone tell me how to return this radio to its factory settings.

This is the same radio as the Nasa SX35, I think. The Nasa manual isn't very clear, but says that you can have 3 goes at entering the MMSI, after which you have to get a dealer to unlock it. So it might be worth trying to enter your new MMSI and seeing whether it'll accept it.

I have already tried that with no success. I went through this three years ago when some kind person told me which keys to depress before turning the radio on to return it to the factory settings. Sadly I forgot to make a note of them.

Hi Lofty,

I have just signed up to the YBW site and have exactly the same problem you had with my Nasa Marine SX 35 DSC, did you solve it? if so would you be a gent and let me know how you did it.

Cheers

Mike

Channel 0 is reserved for the emergency services I believe, I think leisure VHF operators need to get special permission from the Coastguard/MCA/OFCOM/RNLI to have channel 0 enabled

RESETTING MMSI ON SX 35 DSC radio

1. Depress the MEM and SCAN button simultaneously and switch the transceiver to ON.

2. At “Factory Reset”, release the buttons and push ENT
3. Switch the transceiver to OFF
4. Switch the transceiver to ON (Display is empty)
5. Push the ENT button
6. Switch transceiver to OFF
7. Switch the transceiver to ON

Done. You can now enter a new MMSI

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but did it work for anyone with this advice?
I´ve read in another forum about some trouble with resetting an radio. (software trouble...)
Thanks for your opinion!

Seems like you will have to ring Nasa as they will talk you through it....Might save cost of a phone call in the future if you write down the procedure.... :p

I know that this is an old thread but I am changing boats and considering swapping radios. I can confirm that holding SCAN and MEM while switching on does reset the M-Tech MT-500 to factory settings, erasing the MMSI.
