The Marine Navigator app for Android now has an AIS function for an extra £2 on top of the £6.50 for the app. I know this is not everyone's favourite app but for me this is a very affordable way of turning an Android tablet into a very effective chart plotter. I use the charts from Visit My Harbour, over 800 UK Admiralty charts for £15. My existing AIS receiver does not have WiFi so I bought one of these to feed the AIS data to the app http://yakbitz.com/Yakker.aspx for £36
No conection, just a satisfied user.
Update:-
Ronald Koenig the Marine Navigator app developer certainly provides good support. I was having problems with the app but after several email exchanges with him it became apparent it was not the app but he still took the trouble to explain how to restore the animation settings on my tablet.
