We have had a non antifouled fibreglass dinghy in subtropical water for 9 months. Does anyone have a magic method of removing the not unsubstiantial amount of appendiges that have made "Plastikduck" their home ?

The only "magic" method I've come across is to put it into fresh water for a fortnight, but you'd still have to scrape everything off once it was dead. I presume you don't have access to a pressure washer?

wallpaper scrapper to start - metal best /plastic (car window type) safer to gel coat.
starbrite hull cleaner to residue - the 25% hydrochloric acid one; or just get some hydrochloric acid
wash and wax

If you can stand the fee !

Industrial Power Washer ..... diesel powered job - not a boat-yard job as often they are only a few steps up from your home one.

Or the short handled Hoe / scraper from B&Q

Re: If you can stand the fee !

I would agree if there had been any sort of paint or antifouling on the hull but if not you still tend to get a residue left.
Agree the hoe completely if you need to be brutal to start!

Like Dartmouth Harbourmasters.

You need a gorilla to start it and it nearly knocks you over when you pull the trigger.

In use it even got under the edge of my epoxy coating.
