Marinas with camping facilities near by

Merit, like many pocket cruisers, was built and sold as a four berth and whilst it's fine to sail with four onboard, it would not be practical to sleep more than two.

My brother and his girlfriend are interested in joining us this weekend and I am desperate for them to have a good time as we are hoping to go halves on something bigger with them in the next year or so. It strikes me that if we could find a marina where they could pitch a tent, we could go cruising as the four of us.

Furthermore, camping facilities at Marinas and boatyards would open up inshore cruising to large dingys and dayboats too!

Any ideas?

There's a campsite next door to Mercury in the Hamble.

Island Harbour on The Medina used to allow camping. Not sure about now. See here

Southsea marina has a caravan and camping site a couple of hundred yards down the road.

Sparkes, Hayling Island, used to have a caravan (camping?) site nearby. Dunno if it is still there.

Penmarlem Park on the Fowey estuary. About 1 mins walk to slipway and visitors pontoon.

Island Harbour will allow each boat that stays for the IOW Festival to pitch one tent, so I would assume that they will permit camping at other times.

The Royal Yacht Squadron has a Marina now with a very nice lawn close by.
