Anyone knows of a good marina in the Alexandropoulis area (east Thrace, main port of the north-east Aegean, close to the turkish border), where a boat can be stored on hard during winter?

Thanks a lot for any info.

When we visited 2 years ago there was a crane just outside inner small boat/yacht harbour with a fenced off area of hardstanding. Do,nt have any contact details but there was a small yacht charter company operating from there so you could try Google for contact details.

Yes, we berthed alongside it and were told it belonged to the yacht club for winter storage. Had to step around the overhanging barbed wire off our foredeck. Despite the huge harbour the facilities for yachts were tiny, extremely crowded. We didn't mind the town but the port was one of the least enjoyable we have visited.

Thank you guys for all the infos.

I know well Porto Carras, that's a great marina but insanelly expensive. (6600 euros/year for a 32' boat)
However you're not trapped in the resort if you stop there, as there's a local boat line (that operates quite frequently) to the nearby city.

The Alexandropoulis main harbour is indeed rather unfriendly for sailboats (I took the ferry fro Samothraki from there, but was in a real rush on both travels so didn't had time to ask around). Was hoping that there are other facilities in the nearby area, as Alexandropoulis is a rather large city (at least compared to anything up to Thesaloniki).

Thaks a lot for the tip about the Kavala marina (Manitsas Marine). Any idea of the conditions there? (security over winter, power/water/wifi and so on :) )

Marinas in the Alexandropos area

Very happy to second recommendation for Manitsas marine at Nea Peramos.Yard is secure, water and power available, plus all supplies and banks nearby.
Charges are reasonable;the work we had done was to a good standard and to agreed price.
Plus stavros tells good jokes........

Not exactly close to Turkish border, but have you thought of Port Lagos, to the NE of Thasos. Tsoukas Marine run a storage yard there. We have left our 11m boat there and it is costing us about €50 per month. We then went by car to Xanthe and caught the "Metro" bus (Turkish service) from Xanthe direct to Istanbul - about 8 hours, for our return to UK. Facilities in the village are minimal, one mini-market and 3 tavernas. Electricity and water are included in the normal harbour dues. There are no toilet facilities, either for the harbour, or in the yard; wifi at one of the tavernas.

Thank you guys, these are very useful informations. How are the lifting facilities on both marinas?
Also what are the charges at Manitsas marina? (for your Moody for example :) )
