Hello boys and girls, long time since I was over on this forum.
After being based in Cagliari for 3 years we have decided to nip over to Spain for at least one year. We would like to find a good marina near to Valencia.
We will prefer to lift out over winter and ideally at a yard where we can do some work on the boat ourselves.
We don't really want to be in Valencia itself preferring a smaller town but with good road access and shopping.
We are travelling out soon to do a bit of a shore based recce ( flying Ryanair to 'their' new airport at Castellan) and will look at the Marina Burriana Nova.
Can any one advise/recommend other marinas in the Valencia area
Cheers.

Valencia is very nice but I agree that the marina there might not be your best option. We spent a week there last year and cycled about 50 miles in about 5 days. It is a great place for cycling as it is flat and has cycle lanes everywhere. However, it must be around 3 miles to the town centre. Even a visit to a supermarket is a bit of a hike from the marina.

The marina is a bit odd in not having a high or low season. This makes it more expensive than many other places in winter but a bargain in August.

I would have thought Sant Carles was a bit far from Valencia, must be almost 90nm and Denia is only about half that distance. I seem to remember a friend suggesting a small place not far from Valencia but cannot remember the name. I'll dig around in case I have notes here rather than on the boat in Spain.

Might be a bit far South but listening to the winter forecasts we seem to be getting away lightly weather wise in Marina de las Dunas, Alicante province, compared to Northern Costa Blanca.
The marina is swell free, cheapish but not many all year livaboards. Most come and go month on month like myself, using the Ryanair flights to Alicante. There's a couple of chandlers and a supermarket near by.
No prohibition on working on your own boat but I think there's a weight lifting limit around the 35ft mark!
