Marina with hard standing in Portugal?

Im thinking of bringing the boat West this summer, hopefully to South coast of Portugal. However I would like to be in a position where I can leave the boat in the water for the summer months, but have her out for the winter.
Are there any such places that anyone can recomend?

Portimao good, plenty of space, but have been told that as the hard standing is near the railway (diesel) it can get rather dirty. Otherwise good facilities, chandlers etc
 
Cheapest I have heard of is at Nazarre, on the west coast, cheapest I know is Bruces yard at Faro, last winter it was 10 euros per metre per month, plus a reasonable lift charge.
But your first thought should be for the summer. There are no six month deals then, and you are looking at a daily rate . They start at about 25 euros a day, and go to over 100.
There is a Med Marina Handbook with up to date costs and berth numbers.

But are there no 12 month deals for a marina with a yard?
 
Sopromar in Lagos good and secure.

Most do it the other way around - yard for the summer (15 Jun - 15 Sep) when it is hot, crowded and v expensive. Then re-launch after 15 Sep when there are 9 month contracts available in the marina.

Don't know of any organisations where marina and yard are linked with a 12 month package.
 
Though I'd already responded to this one but either me brain - or me eyes - are going.
Lagos. Portimio or Vilamoura are all OK but expensive in summer months. Its as cheap to keep the boat there for 9 months off summer as it is for 3 months in summer.
You could try around the corner at Sines or further up the Atlantic coast - although whilst they will be much cheaper - the coastline is no-where near as attractive.

Dear Hannabella,

I saw in one of the posts that you sail a Warrior 38. We are interested to buy a Warrior 38 or 40, mainly for the below-deck space it offers (I hope to retire within a few years) and the cutter rig with its smaller sail area per sail.
We sail a Victoire 933, a Dutch-built 31-foot design by Dick Koopmans. She is a seafriendly ship that sails well. We sail in the area from Spain to Norway, make long distances with the two of us (my wife and me doing 3 hour on - 3 hour off watches) and like to potter around between going there and coming back.

Our hesitation is whether the Warrior sails well in light airs, say a Force 3. What are your experiences?
Do you have experience with a self-steering vane and if so, which ones? I have seen Hydrovane fitted and Aries, but I wondered whether an Aries works well with the steering wheel.

I really fancy somewhere handy to get to Faro perhaps , but I shall have to try and trawl all the Marina websites, is there anywhere easy to find all the Marina links for this area?

Does it have to be Portugal? If you are looking at the southern end of the Iberian peninsula, there are some options just across the border in Spain -- in particular up the rivers to Seville, for example which is served by Ryanair to the UK. Mediterranean handbook won't really help if you are looking at the Atlantic side!

No, indeed it could be Spain, West of Gibralter. Could even be East of Gib, though I guess it will be pricier there?
