Marina Shower/Toilet blocks - points out of 10

Despite them being cleaned regularly, I always seem to catch 'athlete's foot' in the showers at Cherbourg. Probably worth wearing flip-flops when you go in there.

The bogs are pretty horrid as well.

Get a shower on board. We've got one, a power shower that has several settings that are much more comfortable, we use the 'gentle rain' setting. More comfortable and uses less water. From past experience, some marinas are very poor. The BW ones are generally good, and free!

Thats fine then you are happy with them :)

I like them but the glass door reduces the score significantly for me, I feel 10/10 is too high, if you decided you were scoring them alone then 10/10 is fine as it is your score but I thought you requested others add their input which I have so please reduce from 10/10 .

Now lets move on to the glass doors on the bogs..........

your sat there doing what ever you do and the automatic lights turn off, you wave your arm about which turns your cubical light on leaving your silhouette shinning round like a light house..........its not my idea of a perfect bog, sorry.

I hate the idea that there is no engaged sign on the door , redundant I expect as everyone can see you sat there.

they look nice 10/10 but not very practical which reduces score to 5/10

You do talk a lot of **** sometimes Daka, which maybe why you are having such issues with toilets! :D

You could try using the disabled bathroom downstairs, it is about 10' square, with no windows, and you get the whole space to yourself.

Mayflower Plymouth
10/10 for the toilets and showers open to bertholders-only.
8/10 for the toilets and showers open to the public.

I'd second that for Mayflower- the individual bathrooms are as good as any en-suite at home with underfloor heating that is fantastic in winter- one of the reasons we chose the marina coz whatever some others say, the shower in a 25 foot boat is just not the same!

Also not read all the posts, but the worst I have ever come across are at Crinnan.

Not sure of the facilities at Tobermory these days. When last there a hotel advertised that you could use their shower block. Put a quid in the slot and surprise surprise before I could even finish soaping up a buzzer sounded telling me that my time was up. Had rest of shower in cold water. Bl**dy cold water. It was early December. lol now.

Thanks for the tip Nick :)

That will leave the 'all male' raggie crews free to get up to what ever they do in there , everyone is happy now ;)

Of course despite me being apparently the only one not wanting to join in the happy gay all together atmosphere it still leaves the issue that the twasock who designed the bogs got it wrong if someone had to make a sign asking that you dont get the shower floor wet :D 10/10 indeed :D

Only ever used marina showers when boat is on the hard. Always use my own. Do use the toilets and most I have found are acceptable....ish!

MDL Brixam, very new facilities, toasty warm, clean, lots of showers and lav's and a nice coffee machine in the reception

Another credit to them is their very comfortable lounge, two settees in front of a television. Plus boating magazines, also a selection of books you can borrow, should the telly distract you.

All in all, I reckon this marina sets standards most others would be hard put to equalize, though QAB might perhaps do so when the work down there has been completed.

MDL...sigh. So expensive, but at least nice blocks:

Northney is at least an 8 if not 9.

Sparkes...6 or 7, mostly because they need more light.

Hamble is 8 or 9.

Elsewhere...

My read on Bucklers Hard is different from others here: I rate it at least a 5, maybe a 6.

Cowes Yacht Haven: the absolute pits. A 1 or 2 possibly, always dirty, smelly, and foul IMHO.

Haslar: nice, 6 to 8.

I am shocked at how well Chichester is rated here, and the pics. Might have to go visit...
