Anyone offer any tips about a good marina with space for a 40' sailing yacht in Ibiza from August this year?

Ibiza Maina in August

If it's a long-term berth that you're after, then my tip would be to look somewhere else. They're up there with hens teeth and rocking horse ****, with a price to reflect such.

You might find a mooring to be had in the town at the western end of the Island (San Antonio something or other?) but I wouldn't like to overwinter there. Alternatively, I gather there are berths to be had in Valencia on the mainland, which is a direct/relatively short, ferry ride away; similarly. Denia might be worth a try?

Good luck - you're going to need it.

Dont bother with Santa Eulalia - wont even let you tie up for a few hours, never mind days.

San Antonio from 1st July in 2007, the rate for 13m went up to €90 per night, and wouldnt commit to any length of time.

I'm with BobnLesley on this - dont bother!!

If you're cruising, get a good anchor, dinghy, and generator, and spend your time at anchor - beats the hell out of marinas. you'll save the cost of the anchor, dinghy, and genny, many tmes over by avoiding marinas.

If you need to leave the boat for a while, get down to Almerimar, (a day and a half or so sailing away, where they seem to have plenty of space, and very reasonable rates.

Trouble is in Ibiza, unless you want to roll your guts out, there is not a lot of really sheltered anchorages, which are not full of official or unofficial moorings, St Antonio being a case in point. I managed to see the ballearics, before it went totally c razy, now heading for Greece, had enough of rip off Spain.

We were told a tale yesterday of a man who bought a berth in Puerto Portals, Mallorca, many years ago, for €20,000. His family thought he was mad. Recently he has been offered €600,000 for it and turned it down. Double this for Ibiza.

Thanks, folks. Mainland Spain sounds good. Was in Denia a couple of years ago, and Almerimar also sounds good.

Valencia

If you're looking for somewhere on the mainland in the vicinity of Ibiza, then look no further than the Americas Cup Marina/Marina Real Juan Carlos 1 in Valencia. For up to 12 metres, their rate is about 15 euro per night throughout the year except for 2 or 3 weeks round the Grand Prix time (no change in rate if you're on a long term contract for that period). Its a modern place with reasonable facilities and has a Metro station about 10 minutes walk away.
We looked at it for over wintering last year but opted for Barcelona in the end - Marina Port Vell.

I used to keep my 11 metre boat in the marina facing Ibiza town. Cost me £300 a year then.

Here at Sant Carles we are 100 miles from San Antonio, so may be worth considering. All details in the website here:

We have just been in Ibiza Town. The Club Nautic was 34Euro a day for 12m. It then turned the 1st of June and the price doubled. We left. Horrible marina too as the ferry wash jolts you round like nothing else. Visitors are put on the outside and you have to use great planks of wood as there is a second lump of concrete at the sea level

Temporary Stopping in Ibiza

Can anyone tell me what the situation is regarding a quick stop in Ibiza as we want to pick up our daughter there in July. Can you tie up for a couple of hours ? If so where ? If not what are the alternatives ?

Also looking for similar info on Palma Majorca as we want to drop her off there for her return to UK.

Any info will be much appreciated.

We have just come thru Palma and the best place I could see would be the waiting pontoon at Royal Club Nautic Palma. Its where you normally would wait to be allocated a pontoon in theit marina but its a simple drop off I dont think they would have too much trouble. Could probably ask for a short stay as well.

As for Ibiza the only place we could see for a short stay or pick up would be the fuel pontoon at Botafoc. Dont think Club Nautico would be that viable an option as it is a pain to tie up to and they insisted we had to leave by 12 and could not pay extra to stay for a few more hours.

These are just my thoughts after spending a few days at both. Someone who knows these areas better than i do may be able to shed more light

We have always wondered the same sort of thing as we occassionally dont want to actually stay in a marina - just pop into town and get some groceries / fill up with water etc. I know this would be possible in the UK but dont really know what the deal is over here

You will probably find a vacant buoy for a few hours in San Antonio and, if you cant get them aboard by dinghy, you could time your filling up with fuel with their arrival, and get them on that way. You might even get a berth for a night.

for crew change in Mallorca, I dropped SWMBO off in Andraitx where she got a cab, (after a few days at anchor). I subsequently picked up a buoy in Porto Colom, Hired a car for a couple of days, and picked up my new crew from the airport.

For pick up/drop off in Majorca, think Club Nautico Santa Ponsa. Their waiting quay would likely accommodate you. Plus the crossing is only 48nms from Cala San Vicente in Ibiza.

Give them a call at +34 971 694 950 and reserve for a few hours.

PS: Boat is moored at CNSP:D
