Not really looking to start a debate on the rights and wrongs/justification of it BUT has anyone heard of any Marinas reducing/crediting annual fees as a result of the various COVID lock downs. Understand some Holiday parks have with Caravan fees.

The larger marina 'chains' offered a refund/credit of somewhere between one half and month's berthing fees. As MDL was one of them I expect those berthed at Woolverstone and Chatham received them.

With other establishments it seems to be a matter of individual negotiation although there are reports of a smaller group being successful taken to court.

Looking at website, social media, etc I notice most marinas are talking about how they are sfully staffed, boatyard still working and the like so I am not expecting such 'generosity' this time around.

Was well discussed on threads such as here, BOAT FOLK PLEASE READ.
Mine wouldn't even engage in a discussion, so they can find someone else to fill my marina spot next year.

Berthed at MDL Chatham and I can confirm my fees were lower this year than last. Compared to being in the Solent, they are very reasonable. There are a number of Chatham boats who spend 3 months in the Solent during the summer using the benefit of using other MDL marinas. The rest of the year they are Chatham based, so they get Solent sailing at Chatham prices. It is too much of a faff for me, but it is certainly something a Solent sailor might consider to save some fees. Oh and Chatham is not full at present.

I can confirm that Suffolk Yacht Harbour fees have gone UP this year. There was also no reduction or refund of fees last year. Hope this helps.

I’m up at Debbages in Ipswich. No price rises. It’s a funny old place - best described as ‘rough and ready’, but I love the place, and so, clearly, do others as it’s chockablock. The moment a gap appears, it’s filled by a new boat so I’m guessing there’s a waiting list, which, if you saw the place, might surprise you!

As per Concerto, MDL at Chatham provided a ‘bonus’ covid related decrease this year applied to the annual berthing fees, that was fully welcomed.

Things seem ok at Fambridge, Marina full , a small credit on accts for last year’s lockdowns & now additional swinging moorings being laid for larger craft so can’t be all bad and with a trot boat service that runs 7 days a week ( may to November) who could ask for more .........

If it wasn't for the 6 mile trip downriver before you can actually get anywhere and the fact that the lower half of the Crouch is a somewhat soulless ditch, I would consider it as I found the yard and the Marina at Fambridge absolutely brilliant when we bought Pagan Lady from there!

Burnham Yacht Harbour have increased by 2% and there has been zero credit relating to last year. Evidently, an overall increase in boats. Rather disappointed.

Not a surprise, as Bradwell has been the cheapest around for a long time. Hence they have a waiting list where others have vacancies...
I think Bradwell have higher than average lift out charges and charge for a cradle. Otherwise, I would consider Bradwell.

Living south of the Blackwater makes it the best location for me. It's location not its price is the reason it is full IMO.
Unfortunately they don't do summer scrub deals so I stay in the water all winter and have a scrub or a short lift out somewhere else. Burnham works best for me. Last year's costs were £120 for a scrub, change the anode and back in for another year. The joys of coppercoat.
