I thought the Gallows Point development wasn't approved because it would contravene fishing laws?
Not laws I think. The developers came up against the very powerful fishing industry, who seemed to have unlimited funding to fight their cause. They managed to convince the authorities that discharge from the proposed marina would contaminate the mussel beds. As anyone who has cruised in mainland Europe would know, mussel and oyster beds thrive alongside marinas, and in some cases in them, but in the end money talked.
