I was pleasantly surprised. A bit less than 1.5% increase. In money terms £40 more than last year. This is for the year commencing 1st April.

O
Yep, got mine too.
No increase would have been nice, a decrease would have been fantastic, but I guess 1.5% is OK too.
However, the free calendar makes it all worth it!![]()
Am looking at a Dutch Marina for 1 April to 30 October. Looking like €1542 but I need to check if that includes electricity. Having never had a season berth in a UK marina is this comparable to UK prices ;-)
Baldrick, have you no idea what irony is? Baldrick: Yes, it's like goldy and bronzy only it's made out of iron....

I- the charts seem to indicate that the approach is rather shallow.
Is that Bradwell Marina? We're thinking of coming back to the east coast and the prices at Bradwell look attractive. I'm just a bit worried about access - the charts seem to indicate that the approach is rather shallow.
Bradwell marina have a waiting list but how soon you get a berth is dependent on the size of your boat. If it is long and/or beamy you will wait longer and vice versa. I have a 1.4m draft and as a guide I avoid 2 hours either side of LW although obviously you can do better than that on a rising tide as the bottom is very very soft mud.

Ah, thanks - that probably rules us out on more than one count - we are 13m long and pretty wide - we also draw about 1.7m. Pity - it looked a decent option....
I draw 1.7 too. 2.5 hours either side of LW would be tricky. The upside is a great river and quick access to open water.
You could get on the list and always decline. I'm sure that they give berths to the biggest boat that will fit a vacant berth rather than just on a strict queue.
Hmmm, not really willing to accept that level of restricted access. I think we will have to take a look at Burnham - we have sailed from there and rather liked it. A bit more expensive than Bradwell, but still cheap compared with the Solent.
The Crouch is even more restrictive for a larger boat & no where to go
Really? That's not the way I remember it.... I'm told that the minimum depth on the entrance to Burnham Yacht Harbour is about 2m below chart datum, so we should have no difficulty with 24 hour access. Regarding places to go, it is only a short hop up to the Blackwater
About 25 miles a lot of it in a narrow ditch & if you use the tide out you could get stuck at the Swin at LW as I have drawing 1.800
I cannot imagine it being much fun coming back at night through the Swallow tail at night with head wind & adverse tide.
I draw 1.800 & rarely have problems at Bradwell. Just time it to miss the bottom bit of tide. If you work it with the tide coming home, preferably from a few miles east of the Knoll, it normally works Ok
Can be fun coming in at night, but I have done it more times at night than day
MDL Woolverstone rates are up 3%. I love the wide pontoons and the river view so I will pay up. Wish it was cheaper though!
Happy Christmas
