Hi all
I have a manual (i think lofrans) windlass. but it doenst have any levers holes which i normally see online for manual ones. and it looks stuck. any idea how to operate it please? Thank you

I have one like that. The wheel has only one hole. The construction of the windlass is such that you can turn the wheel continuously in both directions. If the hole is pointing down you don't need to take it apart to correct this. You will need some form of leverage to turn the wheel and overcome the resistance of the clutch mechanism.

Yes its a ratchet wheel ...

To turn it is easy ... short length of rope, with eye each end equal to about half circumference of wheel ... piece of short rod ...... Insert rod into hole underneath. Rope eye in one end place over rod. Other eye has a bar inserted that rests on wheel. You now have a 'capstan' effect ... the bar exerts a turning moment on the rope which is locked by the short rod. Once 1/4 turn is made ... you can put the bar into the hole.

The above assumes of course that is the problem.
