Our Hustler only has a 20L diesel tank in the port aft cockpit locker. I have installed reinforced strapping in the adjacent locker which will hold 2 x additional jerry cans securely. I want to be able to manually pump fuel from the jerrys to the boat tank thus avoiding lifting and pouring of the cans while at sea etc. Syphoning won't work because of the relative heights of the donor and recipient tanks.

Searches online only seem to throw up small hand pumps for sucking small volumes of oil from an engine through the dipstick hole during oil changes, or dinghy bailing type pumps which they state are only for use with water. Any ideas?

I use one of those cheapy plastic pumps with a squeezy bulb on the top. 2 for a Euro in a Greek chandlers, but available in pound shops here.

I use one of the ones Tranona suggests, but that is for transferring from a bottle that I have lifted up to be adjacent to the tank filler cap. It starts the siphon without any risk of spillage. If you want to leave your jerry cans where they are you will need some sort of positive displacement pump as a centrifugal will not prime. My Whale Gusher bilge pump was once used to transfer central heating oil on a fairly large scale, obviously far too big for what you want, but a smaller version maybe?

That looks like it'll do the job... might need a slightly longer hose than supplied though. Thanks for the advice guys.

Already suggested above, but those things are huge, aren't they? They have a 2"BSP adaptor.
.

Well, they're not small - but only about the same diameter as a jerrycan's cap. The down pipe isn't that big.. Although they're designed to screw into an oil drum, I'm sure you could use one "floating". And they don't half shift fuel! I've used them to refuel snow-scooters, and they're a very efficient way of moving fuel.
