Manson Supream

I've never got hung up about anchors and usually used the one supplied with the boat. Danforth, Bruce, I bought a small aluminium Guardian for one which had only mud weights when I got it (used on the Broads). They all performed well, mind you I don't tend to anchor in hurricane conditions.

Is the slot in a Manson purely to avoid a patent?

It's to make life more interesting. It trips the anchor when you're fast asleep and the tide turns and then when you try to get the anchor back on board it won't come over the bow roller. On the plus side, shackled through the normal hole ours has never let us down.
