Can anyone let me have feedback about the quality of work done by this boatyard? Not, by the way, to be confused with Manoel Island Marina, where I have had a bad experience...James, yacht 'Apparition'
Can't help with recent experience, sorry, but when they slipped our 50 year old boat in 1970, they could not identify the remains of an old gribble attack in the keel.
When it was explained to them they seemed happy to nail a small copper patch over it before applying the antifoul, as advised by an old skipper we knew.
I don't suppose it is still managed by Harland & Wolff is it?
When we bought our boat there (in 2005) the previous owner had got them to carry out several jobs, including repairing some damage to the GRP on the stern. I saw the "before "pic and was very impressed by what they had done. They also had serviced the engine ,and this seemed to be OK as well. I did not ask them to do any work for me,so can only speak for what had been done. The dealings I had with them (storage and launching etc). were fine and I found them very helpful.

That was Ray Abela's work. He does all the Manoel Island "tricky" grp work.
You can always get in touch with him direct and save the yard's mark-up!!
That's interesting Charles... I did not know who had carried out the work as it had been done before I bought the boat, but it was like new and if I had not been shown the photos I would not have known that there had been any damage.Obviously a good chap to know!!

MIYY was never managed by Harland and Wolff.
It has always been a part of Malta Shipyards, formerly known as Malta Dry Docks, (which was later amalgamated with Malta Shipbuilding to form the present Malta Shipyards).
I have been taking my boat there for many years and I would not consider going anywhere else. The only connection that I have, besides that of a satisfied client, is that I served my apprenticeship with Malta Dry Docks back in the early sixties.
Thanks, everyone. I have moved my boat there and she is now lifted out. Security is excellent esp. compared to MI marina. Have had to cut back work to be done due to £'s fall v €!!
