Took a 'Grockle' river 'cruise' up the Tamar to Callington and back the other day. Brilliant day. Great weather. Saw nuclear subs, destroyers, frigates, RFA, 'L' craft and etc. at the dockyard. Avoided the ferry chains with penache. Confirmed my desire to return to my home town of Plymouth. The Barbican is looking very smart these days - different when I was there as a lad. Anyway, I digress. On the return leg of the trip we were just upstream of the Saltash Bridge when we came across two people using a jet-ski. One of the two was standing on a large floating platform type red channel buoy while the driver ran the gauntlet trying to soak/knock off the other person sanding on the buoy. Bit barmy I thought.
What, if any, are the regulations about using official buoys in this way, i.e. recreation. Indeed, what, if any are the regs about using such buoys. Just curious really.

You went up the Tamar all the way to Callington ???? how the fook did you manage that ?? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Must be am amphibious type of some sort.... as Callington must be at least 5 miles from the Tamar. I assume he made a mistake and meant Calstock.

I notice on the chart that above Calstock there are a few "holes" with at least 1 meter of water at LAT. Is it possible to anchor in them safely or is the bottom rocky or anyway very hard ? Often thought I'd like to stay up there for a few days.
Also, any idea when the trip boats finish their season?
