Has anyone got any ideas on how to get information on these engines?

I wish i could give you more information but not in a knowledgeable position to do this...
Would love to get some manuals on them if someone knows how o do this?
Would also love to know how best to work out the fuel usage as well.

Thanks,

Shaka 1

Plenty of information but what engine range, do we assume old 25XX V motors or six pot??

Without being specific all pretty pointless.................

Yes your are right...

Thats my problem though...i dont know enough to give you further info???
Today i got pictures of the engines but i dont know how to post them up here so you can see them?

I did get some numbers stamped on the block though...not sure if these would help?

I really do appreciate your reply no matter how small the information!

Getting the manuals would be my ultimate goal!!!

The numbers i got are;
The most relevant numbers that I can find are; 51.01101 – 3284 60
With what looks like a date stamp of; 26-11-90

Does that help?

I'm sure the pictures would help too...
the vessel is the one in my avatar...

Thank you.

How large are the engines??

MAN high speed engines from around the 1970's are derived from a JV with Mercedes Benz, inline 5, 6 and V motor configurations from V6 to V18.

MAN medium speed engines are B&W designs now marketed as MAN B&W, smallest of these is about five tonnes. Looking at your Avatar wrong class of vessel for a 750 rpm engine.

Surely you must have a clue to the number of cylinders, configuration, power output and rated speed.

Let me take a punt, MAN 2840 V10 800 to 1,000 hp.

Bilgediver,

I think OP may have found answers elsewhere.

Well done to identify as 25XX Series which was my first suggestion. think you did switcheroo bore with stroke, in-line 5 and 6 were 125mm bore and 155mm stroke, the V versions were 145mm stroke. 28XX engines saw bore increase to 128mm.

Base motor is same as old MTU 183 Series.
