Thinking of putting an offer on a Malo 34 for sailing on the West Coast of Scotland. can't find any review of a Malo 34 so wondered if anyone had experience/thoughts. Thanks

I had one for 15 years.Great boat, only sold it to go bigger. No issues with rudder on the 34,Tracks beautifully and faster than you would expect.
The 36 had i'm told a rudder recall early on and i modified the skeg on mine as there was a gap between the it and the leading edge of the rudder,Made a huge difference
just by making the rudder more efficient. Now also tracks well.

Speak to Dan at Malo uk.Very helpful guy.

Did you buy it then late reply
I own one now was a motorboat man I changed very very late in life!
New to sailing
have sailed friends boats 34 sadler 345 Rassy Bev34 not alot off experice really raced j24 fun boat
This Malo 34 is fantastic in heavy weather
I sail alone you could say beginner 12 months ago
first trip on it was Dover to conway !
Hard when you do not know the boat but you get there eventually
I love this boat in 15 knots to 30 knots off wind it needs 15 get it going Hull speed is 7.3 knots which is fast for a 34ft boat so i believe
But I can only compare it from what I have sailed before in the past
I looked at so many boats the med boats seemed structurely weak The benny boats the rigging twisted some off the decks I looked at ! Put me off buying one dare say not all off them are like that

We sail a Malo 43. If yours needs 15kts to get it going then there’s something adrift with your sail plan, we happily sail in ten kts no trouble. Maybe add a light wind sail?

Hi
Mine boat does sail nice in light winds but she excells in strong winds I feel very safe in the boat !
Rephrase what I said ,
I am still learning every time I go out !

If it’s the same boat, I went on a Malo 34 once very briefly. Although typically nice inside in Malo fashion, it struck me as being very small, and definitely a ‘couple’s’ boat rather than a family one.
