making water tight

Hi,
I have just bought an old but nice Ocean 30 cruiser, ( think these where Brooms as well) these where very popular as a hire boat and where well made from what i gather. One of the issues i have is windows are leaking ( not to bad but need sorted) These are all aluminium frame type with lots of screws around the frame, locating into captive nuts i think. The large side windows that run along the galley seem all good with no signs of leaking, its the smaller front oval port holes that are leaking. Can the aluminium be replaced with a rubber type seal for these smaller types?
I see that most newer types in the marina have rubber window seals.

Also anyone have a link to removing the frames and resealing correctly ( in case the rubber seal option is a non starter)

a tricky one - the trouble with old aluminium frames and screws is that after a long time they can be very difficult to take apart without damaging them. Could be one of those jobs you wish you hadn´t started. If they leak like a tap, then you may well have to take them out but if you are getting a few drips when its raining or washing the boat then you could try Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure. I used it on an old Princess of similar vintage to your Broom and it worked. Might be worth a try first and see what happens.

Might be worth the captains stuff and see where it's leaking, looked it up and if small it will seal.

Falcoron, I too have a Broom Ocean 30. Where are you based? I have had 1 of the long windows out and resealed in new mastic. I replaced all of the fasteners with new dome headed bolts and nuts. I am making my way round all of the windows, removing and resealing and having some success. Using a butyl type substance which does not set hard, as used in caravans ( and as bought in caravan dealers/internet so much cheaper than chandlers).. Welcome to the forum.
