It would do if reporters like this one exaggerate the quantity by over 50%.......there are 35 gallons in a barrel (42 US but its a UK publication) which equals 7000 gallons and not 11000..........agenda or what?

It is US barrels. Oil is always measured in US barrels, if the barrel unit is being used, irrespective of jurisdiction. No one would use other barrel volumes in oil and gas.

Exaggeration is not the point, 200bbls of oily water is a shitty thing to have on a beach or in your waters.

Anyway, it is a manageable release and should be easily managed following their oil spill response plan.

42 US gallons in an oilfield barrel, 3.8 litres in a US Gallon.
On BBC, the reported volume is going down:

About 200 barrels of reservoir fluid was released after the leak occurred at Wytch Farm. Perenco said each barrel contained 158 litres (35 gallons) of fluids which were "a mix of water with a small amount of oil" made up of 85% water and 15% oil.

Poole Harbour: 200-barrel fluid and oil leak unacceptable - council leader

How many gallons is that?
that's just over 1000 (imperial) gallons though if the water referred to is 'produced water' then its quite unpleasant smelly toxic stuff too......!

it is the point when you are trying to make the issue greater than it really is....... crude ( if it is crude) is a natural substance that washes up on many beaches as it seeps from the sea bed into the water in several locations and is slowly broken down by the natural course of things

There is no evidence that anyone is trying to make a point. It is reported as it is. The levels should be manageable under the oil spill response plan, which will be a public document. The licence to operate will have degrees of response levels, which will be implemented. The serious point, is what else is near failure. Is the leak cause an isolated incident or symptomatic of a degraded process that threatens greater future spills. This latter point is a growing concern in the UK as many wells and infrastructure is in a poor state of repair.
