I wish to get a NMEA output from my 5200, but the requisite plug is no longer available from Magellan, their agents or electronics catalogues. Does anyone have one (preferably with cable attached) that they could make available, please?

Nav 5200

TO PJ BARTLETT:

Its almost a decade since you posted your thread on Practical Boar Owner's Reader to Reader site about tracking down a data cable for your Magellan Nav 5200 GPS so that you could extract NMEA data information.

The only reply was someone empathizing with your frustration with Magellan.

Here I am almost a decade later with the identical problem and question. So I was wondering whether you made any progress?

Essentially, what I am trying to do is use my existing NAV 5200 to get a GPS antenna signal out of the data port in the rear of the display in order to run a Charting Program on my old Sony Vaio Laptop. I have been able to do this successfully with a Garmin Etrex hand held GPS because it came with a cable that connects the GPS to the serial port of the laptop. My guess is you may have been trying to do the same or something similar.

Magellan has been no help. Probably the people working there weren't born when the NAV 5200 was marketed.

Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.
