Macerator pump

Thanks Mart ordered one, and thanks to all who tried to help , except BruceK, rodders ,
Google , no Yahoo

The one Martin loaded.

That was my old one. For damn near 5 years the only way I could get it to start because the impeller would stick to the bore was with a flat blade screwdriver into a service ready slot at the back and wind the motor up. They must have known of their design fault and put it in. It shifted crap was was crap. Always overheating and the motor on it just sucks.

Now I've told you so. Goodluck.

By the way in my case the Jabsco macerator pump was less than 7 years old when it failed , resulting in a leak of horrible stuff as may be imagined. So not really impressed with the Jabsco product. The design /specification of the through bolts has been changed. The spread of the leak was thankfully not too great and all accessible.

The Jabsco also has a slot head (normally covered by a rubber plug) to allow manual turning in case the pump seizes due to lack of activity.

Don`t necessarily believe what you see on websites. They often don`t represent what is actually in stock. I am not sure about Marine Super Store but I can confirm that Jabsco macerators are out of stock at many of the major chandlers. The chandlers I spoke to could not give anticipated delivery dates and said that Jabsco have major supply problems.

Just add to the stream of informations:

A service kit for the MP1000 (which indeed is a Jabsco 18590 or 18690) has
Jabsco number: 18598-1000, lead time 3-5 days and cost some 45.- GBP from ASAP

Some guys in need allegedly took the pump apart, cleaned, freed up and greased things to get the sh!t going.

That's got to be the very definition of desperation. I was dry hurling just swapping the intake hose over.
