Sorry if this has been covered. We are working on a 1968 Freeman 30 with twin Bedford diesel engines. The wiring has been part removed. The alternators I think are lucas A.C.R. I have a picture but do not know how to attach. It has 3 small wires as well as the large cable on B+. Two are red of which one is on a spade going into the terminal housing which I assume is the ignition switch connection. There is a terminal stud on the left which I think is W for the rev counter, with the other red connected. But there is a small spade terminal just above the B+ connetion with a black wire which I am not sure where it goes.

Try posting pictures to a free hosting site such as Photobucket, then post a link on the forum. I don't think it is necessarily an ACR from the desciption. Being a new idea to mount the diode pack within the case, the ones I remember only had a three way connector - kinda T-shaped. Other variants have all manner of connections available, some are marked and some not as I recall! A Google may turn up a diagram of your exact model.

Meantime, trace all the wires and confirm where they are going so you know what they do and what terminal you should be using on the alternator, once identified.

Rob.
