Out of interest, are these silicon products the ones which, once applied, prevent forever any use of paint on the areas affected?

Dash cleaner from the car shop, it is mainly silicon and is non sticky.

Furniture polish such as mr sheen or pledge.

Decent slides rather than cheap plastic things are the best long term solution.
