LPG Workshop heater .. Aldi

I had one very like that. It made a hell of stife in the workshop, and gave me a headache. I bought a carbon monoxide detector and it screamed its brains out. It was a cheap detector and listed lots of other things that could make it give false alarms. It seems unlikely that such heaters create dangerous levels of CO, so I suspect it was water vapour or something else confusing the detector. However, using the heater was unpleasant even if not dangerous. I junked it.

I guess they must be OK or they wouldn't be manufactured, but they do stipulate a requirement for hefty ventilation which I probably wasn't providing.

Make sure that you follow the instructions for the minimum room volume and ventilation requirements.
When used in a work shop atmosphere it will burn other vapours and chemicals in the air causing all types of fumes.

The devil's spawn - chuck out too much water vapour. Fit an old pot bellied stove - much better heat as in drier heat and the ash does wonders for the roses. Also a good way of getting rid of all the timber offcuts etc.

Needs a 240 v supply, if I have that I'll stick with my fan heater.

Sensible if electric heating works out cheaper than Calor

But only feasible if you have a suitable power supply. 16kW is a wee bit more than you could plug into a 13 amp socket.

Quite agree, they are noisy and noxious as well as causing condensation.
I made a wood burning stove for the main workshop using an old propane tank as the body..Empty it first and flush with water a couple of times then cut and weld a door ,make vents and use an old metal pipe for a chimney. obviously be sensible where you locate it..ensure there is non combustible material surrounding it.
Don't tell elf'n safety. Don't lean on it. and make sure you have adequate ventilation.
