OPSO safety valves are built in to some regulators and is a requirement when using more than two cylinders connected together (rare on a boat I know) They lock out when over pressure is detected and have to be manually reset.

Calor shops also sell hose and hose clips so can't be too dangerous!

Using the above logic is foolish. The point I'm trying to make is that Joe Bloggs can march into a retailer and legitamately purchase gas appliances etc - he then thinks he can lawfully put these items into service, which is not the case.

Some may think I'm being touchy on this subject but why solicit the opinions of the annonymous on-line community on the safety of yourself, your family and fello berth holders when it's so easy to contact a GasSafe (formerly Corgi) professional.

For the record I'm not a gas industry professional.

For low pressure connections hose clips, although worm drive clips such as Jubilee clips would not be my first choice, are satisfactory provided the hose is fitted to the correct ( Fulham ) nozzles
On the BES site you will find single ear and double ear "O" clips that can be crimped with pincers ( see page 65)

I am sorry but Hydraulic hose can handle LPG gas very easily, the pressure rating of a hose (ie 350Bar rated hose has a burst pressure of 1400bar..) is way way more that anything a gas bottle could ever hold. However it needs to have the skin perforated as the gas does eventually bleed through after a long time.. I am told. I fitted hydraulic grade hoses( pre perforated) to fork lifts 8 years ago that are still not leaking.
However the best hose i have found is a PTFE lined stainless braied hose, awesome life and never freeze. A bit on the pricey side but its worth the cost..

And are these hoses are marked to show that they comply with BS3212 type 2, as is required to satisfy The Boat safety Scheme etc ?

BS 3212 (orange) gas hose coupled up to fulham nozzles is more than adequate i've fitted many hoses this way and have never had one leak, thats with one hose clip at either end for belt and braces you could use two.
A hose with crimped ends is simply a nozzle in either end with a crimp outside, only difference being that the crimped ones have only one swage. fulham nozzles have three or four so much less chance of a leak IMO. also if you go for crimped type, then you are likely to need to use compression fittings to couple up (more joints, more leaks), fulham nozzle can be wound direct into regulator and into bubble leak tester or supply line.

This advise is completely dangerous, I have been registered to install LPG for over15 years now and part of the training is on correct type of hose and this is not one of them, if I came across anything like this when carrying out a test then it would be disconnected and warning notice attached.
